§ 16-19. Organization of police department.

(a)

Composition. The police department shall consist of a chief of police and such other officers, assistants, and patrolmen as from time to time may be appointed by the village board pursuant to the provisions of state statutes and village ordinances.

(b)

Salary; collection of fees. The chief of police and the police officers shall receive a salary as fixed by the village board. All fees, bail deposits and other special remuneration or funds collected or received by the police department or any officer thereof shall be deposited with the village clerk-treasurer not later than the second business day following the receipt thereof.

(c)

Tenure of chief, police officers. The chief of police and police officers shall serve at the pleasure of the village board, subject to the provisions of section 16-25.
