§ 18-7. Official traffic map.

  • There is hereby adopted and by reference made a part of this chapter as is fully set forth herein, an official traffic map of the village. Copies of the official traffic map shall be kept on file and open for public inspection, in the office of the village clerk-treasurer and the office of the police department of the village. The official traffic map shall designate by appropriate symbols the location of all through-streets, stop signs, yield right-of-way signs, one-way streets, automatic arterial traffic control signals, location where U-turns are prohibited, the location of other traffic control signs as maybe necessary and required by any state laws as well as this article and any amendments thereto. Failure to observe and obey any traffic signs within the village which are located in accordance with the designations contained on the official traffic map, shall constitute a violation of this section and any person who violates the same shall be subject to forfeiture as provided in this section. The village board may, from time to time, make additions to or deletions from the official traffic map, upon such deletions or additions adopted or resolved by the village board, the chief of police of the village shall cause any such additions or deletions to be made on such map.
